Koran controversy wouldn't exist without the media

U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates called Jones to urge him to abandon the protest, intended to coincide with the anniversary of the Sept 11, 2001, attacks by al Qaeda militants on U.S. targets.

If a tree falls in the forest, and nothing is there to hear it, does it make any noise? If a few people burn Korans, and the media doesn't pay them any heed, does it provoke any conflict? Gates should have asked the media to ignore the provocative deed. If the media weren't trying to fan the flames of war, as it has been doing all along, it would recognize it as an insignificant act, and reporting it as far worse.

But the media isn't just a means of communication - it is a major means by which the oligarchy wields power over us, and it wants to plunge us into a dark age.
