US begins to disappear 235 years after independence declared

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota — Minnesota's government services were shut down Friday amid a bitter battle over balancing the state's budget which mirrors the fight between Democrats and Republicans in Washington.

Make that two presidential candidates from Minnesota who are cheering their home state's government shutdown.
Michele Bachmann released a statement to POLITICO Friday morning cheering Republican state legislators for their standoff with Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton. Her comments came the day after Tim Pawlenty held a press conference to condemn Minnesota Democrats for defending government spending.

Is Bachman going to fly to California on her, uh, private jet, in order to curtsy to their majesties Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge to celebrate "The 4th of July," in hopes of increasing her political chances?
