There are indications that Jamey Rodemeyer, an apparently gay 14 year old who committed suicide recently, was verbally abused by supposed Christians who told him, as does the Westboro Baptist Church coven, that God hates homosexuals. I also recall reading that someone told him that he should commit suicide.
Kids need to realize that God made them the way they are, and that it therefore cannot be a sin to be a genuine homosexual, which I believe is due to soul-configuration, which varies from incarnation to incarnation.
If they believe that the Old Testament is a revelation from God, I would suggest From Babylon to Jerusalem: The Genesis of the Old Testament. A link to it and related maps can be found here. This doesn't mean that Judaism and Christianity are baseless - they are actually based on the Mysteries, but adapted to the intended audience. For example, see Christianity As Mystical Fact.
They also need to know that suicide is not a solution, especially to someone with so much life ahead of them. There are consequences in the next world for suicide, although exactly what they are probably depends on each case. These penalties are not arbitrary, but necessary in order to prevent people from throwing away a life which was custom-designed to provide them with certain experiences. We have free will, but within limits imposed by destiny.
